Here's a comment from Juan de Dios Marfil, who's film Homeland received an Special Mention on the last edition of the New York Short Film Festival.
I´m very glad to know that the New York Short Film Festival has granted a Special Mention to Homeland.
I wanted to make a short film for all audiences with music as an intrinsic part of the narration. Music and story as a whole thing.
The film is the result of two years of hard work. In a personal way Homeland trained me to be persistent in following a dream. Even when I didn´t know if I would be able to finish it. And this is what Homeland is about: a challenge.
The film is an emotional farewell. A story about solitude, love and bravery. A way to overcome goodbyes by understanding to help us find ourselves. A dilemma that impulses characters to find the will of their lives, and the most important thing: the way.
